Penguin Week!
Preschoolers are naturally curious about their surroundings, and what better way to capture that curiosity than with an exciting theme week dedicated to penguins? This engaging theme provides a unique chance for young children to explore the fascinating world of these flightless birds while learning through fun games and interactive activities.
Join us on this chilly adventure as we explore enjoyable ways to teach preschoolers about penguins and their habitats!
Imaginative Role Play
Role play is a fantastic way for preschoolers to immerse themselves in learning. Our BCCA team threw a “penguin party” where kids played penguin themed games. Kids learned how to mimic how a penguin moves, painted imaged of penguins, used a penguin themed sensory bin with cold water and ice, listened to sounds of penguins, and even visited an Antarctica penguin scene!
During this imaginative play, the kids shared exciting stories about penguins' lives and recapped what they learned during their small groups in their homeroom class. This helped children actively participate and enjoy learning about how these lively birds behave in their natural environments.
